SCOUR AMPLIFICATION CAUSED BY STRUCTURE PROXIMITY IN EXTREME FLOWS

Forensic engineering field surveys of recent tsunamis (Saatcioglu et al. 2005, Chock 2013) highlighted the importance scour-related damage to structures located in coastal communities. To date, only a limited number studies have investigated interaction extreme hydrodynamic flows and groups structures, none studied scour around multiple interacting with each other. One example discussed by Yeh (2013) documented flow concentration between two tsunami-resistant buildings, leading deep hole them infrastructure failures onshore gap buildings.
